Military Education

Sessions is committed to offering a military-friendly environment for U.S. servicemembers and their families. We go beyond the convenience of “anywhere, anytime” online education to provide a high-quality creative education that meets your career goals.

National and Regional Accreditation
Established in 1997, Sessions College for Professional Design is accredited by Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) and at the certificate level by Middle States Commission on Secondary Schools, and licensed by the Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education. In 2008 and 2009, Sessions was the recipient of the USDLA Best Practices Gold Award for distance learning programming.

Degree Programs
Sessions offers Associate of Occupational Studies (AOS) degrees
in Graphic Design and Web Design. The Associate of Occupational Studies in Graphic Design program is designed to be completed in two years. Classes start in the spring, summer, and fall and students must complete 72 credits in order to graduate.

Certificate Programs
Sessions offers courses and certificate programs in graphic design, Web design, multimedia arts, digital arts, marketing design, game art, and even fine arts. You can complete a program in 10-20 months. Individual course students can complete a course in 3 months or as little as a week.

Access Classes 24/7, Wherever You Are
Just mobilized? You can access your online course environment at any time, wherever you have a computer and Internet connection. Just bear in mind that some class projects require design software such Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Flash.

Challenging Projects
No boring textbooks or meaningless tests—your education is structured around challenging creative projects that you post to your instructor for feedback. You build a portfolio of design work as you learn. If you can picture yourself designing logos, creating magazine layouts, or coding Web site navigation bars, you’ll fit right in.

All-Star Faculty
Critique and feedback from a faculty of industry-leading artists and designers will help you learn your craft and improve your artistry. Your instructor’s goal is your goal—to help you build a portfolio of high-quality creative work to impress potential clients and employers.

Open Admissions
Certificate programs have an open enrollment policy, so you can enroll today and start tomorrow. If you are considering a certificate program, you will need to provide evidence of attaining a high school diploma, GED, ATB test, or degree. You are not required to submit of portfolio of artwork prior to admission, but students with prior art/design experience are may be able to substitute courses based on prior knowledge.

Expert Advisement/Support
If you’re studying online, you need excellent advisement and support. At Sessions, all advisors and student support staff are New York-based qualified designers. That means that admissions staff can help you make informed decisions on what program is right for you. Student support personnel are always available during business hours via phone and email. Scheduled live chat mentoring is available to help you throughout your foundation classes.

Flexible Drop/Add and Withdrawal
At Sessions, we recognize that your mission and deployment can change your circumstances overnight.  That’s why any student who enrolls as a U.S military servicemember can take advantage of our progressive military LOA (leave of absence) policy. The policy entitles a military student to up to 1 year of LOA time without affecting your academic standing.

Students who need to withdraw can do so at any time during their program (10, 15, or 20 months) and utilize a pro rata refund policy.
